Learning Support Resources Will Help You Succeed

New Accelerated Learning Classes! Need some extra help to sharpen your skills and raise your COMPASS score? You may take one or two Accelerated Learning courses per session to improve your placement.

To Register: Please complete this registration form (PDF / MS Word) and email to Alex Tank at atank@gwinnetttech.edu or visit Building 100 – Room 814 on Tuesdays & Thursdays from 3:00pm – 6:00pm.

Registration Deadline: Submit a completed registration form no less than 1 week prior to course start date.

Cost: Cost for each course is $25 (non-refundable).

Learning Support
Your success as a student is Gwinnett Tech's number one goal. That's why we go the extra mile to ensure you have the most comprehensive learning tools at your disposal. One example is the learning support classes offered through the arts and sciences program.

For instance, the English and Reading Learning Support classes prepare students for college level grammar and composition classes as well as introduce them to the technologically evolving educational environment. Several writing coaches and tutors are on hand to offer individualized attention and guide and encourage students as they explore the college writing process. These classes serve a diverse range of students, from traditional to non-traditional, native to non-native English speakers, and certificate to degree seekers.

Learning Success Center
The Learning Success Center (LSC) is another example of a resource designed to facilitate your learning experience. The LSC houses math and English tutors on duty during all operating hours. Tutors are also available for psychology, economics, chemistry and accounting. The LSC tutoring services are provided free to Gwinnett Tech students.

There are also grammar workshops offered weekly by the LSC English tutors. Examples of topics covered in the workshops are composing topic sentences, and fixing fragments, run-ons and comma splices.

The LSC is also a great place to go for guidance in preparing for the Compass exam (entrance exam). A staff member will show you resources to use to study for the exam, and if you choose to study in the LSC, a tutor will be available to assist you when you need help.
