Gwinnett Tech’s New Programs Speak to Current Business Needs

Input from business partners, students lead to pertinent new educational offerings

Gwinnett Technical College is continuing to respond to the requests of students and area businesses and industry through added certificate and diploma programs that address today's pressing business needs.

Gwinnett Tech has introduced six new certificates, added to more than 51 certificate programs now offered; and one additional new diploma program. All programs are offered as a result of input from area employers and employees.

In response to the growing number of businesses that are exploring the field of business continuity planning and crisis response, Gwinnett Tech's new Public/Private Crisis Manager certificate provides well-rounded training in emergency preparedness and management, providing businesses with skilled professionals who have knowledge of emergency sustainability.

The new Cyber Crime Specialist certificate program provides basic training in computer forensics and cyber crime, within the fields of both criminal justice and information security, and prepares students for roles as information security specialists in business and industrial firms, financial institutions, government agencies, software developers, health care providers and Internet service providers.

The college's new Technical Communications certificate program offers skills an individual needs for almost any type of technically-oriented professional job, providing solid training in writing effectively for various projects, different types of organizations and an assortment of careers within the wide world of work.

The new certificate programs in basic, intermediate and advanced Cabinetmaking, as well as the diploma program in cabinetmaking, provide tiered, top-notch training for those wishing to enter and excel, or enhance their skills, in this in-demand and growing field.

Certificate programs can typically be completed in one to two quarters. Diplomas may be completed in about four quarters.
