Five place in statewide career development conference; GTC honored in resolution
Five Gwinnett Technical College students were named state winners at this year's Georgia Delta Epsilon Chi (DEX) State Career Development conference.
Delta Epsilon Chi (DEX) is an international organization for college students preparing for a variety of careers which fosters development through several avenues including annual skills competitions, networking with industry leaders and leadership training.
Taking home state honors for Gwinnett Tech were:
- Donnie Palmer and Holly Pezzano: First place in team Entrepreneurship
- Jessica Deresch: Third place in Retail Management
- Christina Hoffman and Wendell Smith: Third place in team Sports and Entertainment Marketing
All five students will now advance to the International Delta Epsilon Chi conference to be held April 12 - 15 in Atlanta. Palmer is a Sports and Marketing Recreation student at GTC, while the other four are enrolled in the Marketing Management program.
Deresch was also nominated and elected treasurer of the Georgia Delta Epsilon Chi state chapter.
Additionally, Gwinnett Technical College received recognition in a resolution from Representative Virgil Fludd, District 66, Georgia House of Representatives, commending the experiential learning delivered by GTC through its Marketing Management program.
DEX offers students an opportunity to learn leadership skills, network with peers and business leaders, and experience competition, getting them ready for the world of competition and professional development.
