Senior Leadership Gwinnett at GTC Accepting Applications for New Class

Gwinnett Senior Leadership (GSL) has a new home and sponsor – Gwinnett Technical College in cooperation with the Gwinnett Tech Foundation – and is now accepting applications for the upcoming Senior Leadership class.

Gwinnett Senior Leadership is designed to bring together seniors in our communities who have an interest in leading, learning and supporting Gwinnett nd its citizens. Senior Leadership Gwinnett currently has nearly 200 alumni. Launched in 1999, the program will celebrate its 10th anniversary in 2009.

Senior 55 or older may nominate themselves for participation. The nomination deadline is April 11 and the application deadline is June 15.

Incoming class members are chosen by a selection committee consisting of Senior Leadership Gwinnett Board of Trustee members and Senior Leadership Gwinnett alumni. Class selection will be completed by June 20 with the class beginning in August 2008.

Elliott Brack and Bill Barry currently serve as the Senior Leadership Gwinnett Board of Trustees chair and vice chair, respectively.

The program consists of the following program segments in addition to three study group sessions.

  • Aug, 24: Gwinnett Senior Leadership Class of 2008-09 Reception – Gwinnett Arts Center
  • Sept, 17: Program Orientation – Pierce Park Senior Center
  • Oct, 22: Justice Day – Gwinnett Detention Center
  • Nov, 19: Education Day – Gwinnett Environmental and Heritage Center
  • Dec, 17: Power Day – Gwinnett Technical College
  • Jan, 21: Growth Day – Lilburn City Hall
  • Feb, 18: Government Day – GJAC
  • Mar, 18: Regional Day – Gwinnett Tech – travel to Georgia State Capitol
  • Apr, 22: Health & Human Services – Eastside Hospital
  • May 20: Graduation – Snellville Senior Citizens Center
