Gwinnett Tech Signs Articulation Agreement with Southern Polytechnic State University

University System of Georgia and Technical College System of Georgia Collaborate on Statewide Agreement

Gwinnett Technical College (GTC), along with 21 other state technical colleges, has signed an articulation agreement with Southern Polytechnic State University (SPSU), enabling GTC graduates to apply their associate degree credits to one of five technology-focused baccalaureate degrees at SPSU.

Gwinnett Tech President Sharon Bartels joined SPSU President Lisa Rossbacher and leaders from the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) and the University System of Georgia (USG) for the agreement signing.

"We delighted to expand our students' ability to continue their education at SPSU through the University System of Georgia. This collaboration creates a valuable opportunity for our students and a new avenue for them to advance their education," says Bartels.

The five degrees from SPSU included in the agreement are industrial engineering technology, mechanical and electromechanical engineering technology, and bachelor of applied science in manufacturing process, information technology, or management.

"This is an exceptionally important partnership because it expands and strengthens seamless access to higher education opportunities for college students throughout Georgia," said TCSG Commissioner Ron Jackson. "I'm very grateful to SPSU President Lisa Rossbacher and the University System of Georgia for their commitment to working with the TCSG to strengthen articulation between our systems."

To qualify under the agreement, students will have to graduate in designated programs from any of the 22 TCSG colleges that are regionally accredited by the Commission on Colleges. GTC earned COC accreditation in 1989.

Gwinnett Technical College is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award the associate degree.
