Gwinnett Tech Launches Online Clinical Research Professional (CRP) Certificate Program

Gwinnett Technical College is launching a new, fully online Clinical Research Professional (CRP) certificate option as part of the college's Bioscience Program. The program will begin in January 2010; applications are now being accepted.

Gwinnett Tech has offered a traditional, year-long face face-to-face Clinical Research Professional Certificate program for almost five years. The curriculum was designed and is continually updated by a board of outstanding clinical researchers in metro Atlanta and is taught by experienced researchers and content area experts. The program is a balance of practical and theoretical skills, including CRC procedures, regulatory affairs, technical writing, bioethics and the history of clinical research, and research design and statistics.

Lasting 40 weeks, the fully online course will cover the same material in a virtual workplace format, including live online interaction with professionals in the field. This program will prepare students for entry-level clinical research positions, as well as enable experienced clinical researchers to deepen their knowledge of the field. The course also helps students prepare for the Association of Clinical Research Professional's CRC certification exam.

"Students with clinical backgrounds, such as in nursing or respiratory care, or certified medical assistants, are great candidates for this program, but we have also had excellent success placing graduates who are not clinicians," explains Dr. Robert Powers, program director, Clinical Research Program.

Admission is open to applicants with a minimum of an associate's degree. Healthcare experience is preferred.

Gwinnett Tech offers an associate of applied science degree in Bioscience Technology, as well as certificate options for clinical research professionals, bioscience regulatory assurance technologists, and bioscience environmental laboratory technologists.

Gwinnett Tech also offers more than 45 degree, diploma and certificate program options that you can finish in two years or less. For more information on all programs, visit www.GwinnettTech.edu or call 770-962-7580.
