Gwinnett Tech Radiologic Technology Program Students and Faculty Earn Scholarships and Accolades from the Medical Community
Gwinnett Tech Instructor Chris Kowtko Named Technologist of the Year
Gwinnett Technical College Radiologic Technology program students and faculty have received awards, scholarships and accolades from the Georgia Society of Radiologic Technologists, Inc. and Emory Johns Creek Hospital Auxiliary.
Chief among the honors is the naming of Gwinnett Tech radiologic technology instructor Chris Kowtko as the 2010 Technologist of the Year by the Georgia Society of Radiologic Technologists, Inc.
"What's impressive is that the board of directors at the organization had to agree on who to choose for that award," says Jim Sass, Radiologic Technology program director. "Her win is well deserved. She is extremely active within the state and the community."
Additionally, Gwinnett Tech's 2010 Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership (GOAL) winner, Tai Le, was awarded a $500 Tolan Scholarship from the Georgia Society of Radiologic Technologists, Inc. Le, a radiologic technology student, also won a $2,000 Bob Osborn Scholarship from the Emory Johns Creek Hospital Auxiliary. The Bob Osborn Scholarship was expanded this year to include three additional recipients who received $1,000 scholarships. Those recipients were Gwinnett Tech students Nicole Bell, Jessica Sargent and Michelle Mason.
"We're so thankful that the Emory Johns Creek Hospital Auxiliary was willing to do all that for us," says Sass. "They expanded the scholarship offering for our deserving students and we really appreciate that."
