Gwinnett Tech Hosts MAGIC (Mentoring a Girl in Construction) Summer Camp

Twenty-four girls will participate in construction camp June 21 - 25

WHAT:

Hard hats are required at this summer camp! Area high school and college students – all girls – will attend MAGIC (Mentoring a Girl in Construction) Camp from Monday, June 21 – Friday, June 25 at Gwinnett Technical College. Now in its fourth year, the camp is hosted by the Sugarloaf Chapter of the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) to introduce young women to the opportunities available in the construction industry.

Instructors from Gwinnett Tech, women employed in professional construction jobs and journey-level tradeswomen will to teach safety, carpentry, electrical and welding skills during the free week-long program. Students will be exposed to women from all parts of the industry and participate in a field trip to an active construction site to see how the skills they are studying are implemented in the field.
