Gwinnett Tech Commercial Photography Program Seniors Host Portfolio Show

Show opens Sept. 11 at ART Station in Stone Mountain, then moves to GTC campus Media Gallery on Nov. 4

The 2010 graduating seniors of Gwinnett Technical College's Commercial Photography program will display their work with a portfolio presentation at ART Station in Stone Mountain, beginning with an opening event on Sat., Sept. 11, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Gwinnett Tech Culinary Arts students will provide hors d'oeuvres for the opening reception.

"October is actually the beginning of Atlanta Celebrates Photography. Fortunately, we get two months to show," says Kim Harkins, program director, Commercial Photography, Gwinnett Tech. "It's important for us to show in a gallery. We've had up to 700 people attend our openings, and this year we have the largest graduating group in the program's 26 year history."

The portfolio presentation will consist of work from the Commercial Photography program's 30 graduating seniors including portrait, still life, photojournalism, landscape and fine arts projects from each student. In addition to the portfolio show, some of the commercial photography seniors will showcase 3D photography in the downstairs portion of the ART Station gallery.

"Everyone who attends the show will be issued 3D glasses," says Harkins. "Thirty 3D images from the students will be used in this portion of the exhibit."

The portfolio presentation and 3D gallery will continue at ART Station through Oct. 30, and will then move to Gwinnett Tech's campus Media Gallery beginning Nov. 4 for additional public viewing.

Gwinnett Tech offers an associate degree and diploma in Commercial Photography plus a certificate program in Digital Imaging Specialist.

ART Station is located at 5384 Manor Drive, Stone Mountain, Ga., 30083, in the historic Village of Stone Mountain. Call 770-469-1105 or visit www.artstation.org. The portfolio show is held in conjunction with Atlanta Celebrates Photography.
