Experience and Education a Must in Hospitality Industry
You're offered a lot of advice through the years, whether buying a new car, purchasing a home or entering into marriage. The same is true when you're starting or changing a career.
If you're interested in entering the prominent and promising hospitality field, for instance, Mark Newton, well-known industry-leader and director of Gwinnett Tech's Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management program, offers this sage advice: a mixture of good education and experience is a must.
"It's not only important to get good training, but you've got to have the experience to accompany it," Newton said. "And with our sound contacts and partners, we're able to give our students the best of both worlds, providing the finest well-rounded education."
The hotel, restaurant and tourism management program at Gwinnett Tech prepares students for managerial positions with hotels, reservations, catering, restaurants, country clubs, food and beverage operations, convention sales, front offices and sales; and as purchasing directors, travel agency managers and flight attendants.
The Hotel, Restaurant, and Tourism Management associate in applied science degree can be completed in six to eight quarters.
