Gwinnett Tech Faculty, Staff & Students Contribute $100,000 in Donations, Volunteer Hours
GTC Employees Raise Record Amount for State Charitable Campaign
Gwinnett Tech faculty, staff and students contributed more than $100,000 in charitable donations and volunteer hours this year, and set a college record for the amount contributed to the State Charitable Campaign.
The faculty and staff of Gwinnett Tech contributed more than $31,200 to the state campaign - -a college milestone. The State Charitable Campaign is supported by all Georgia institutions and agencies with the funds raised distributed to support county, state and national causes.
The record was announced last week at Gwinnett Tech's annual Thanks for Giving luncheon, an event hosted by the college administration to thank employees for their generosity throughout the year.
"I am continually astounded by the community spirit and giving hearts of the Gwinnett Tech community," said Sharon Bartels, president, Gwinnett Tech. "Where there's a need, they answer the call - contributing funds, time and their talents. We've recorded many significant milestones this year and we are proud to add this record to our list."
In recent months, Gwinnett Tech has recorded double-digit enrollment growth that now ranks the college as the state's third largest in credit enrollment. Enrollment rose 12 percent for Fall Quarter 2007, as compared to the prior year. The year-end report from the Technical College System of Georgia acknowledged Gwinnett Tech has having conferred the largest number of degree awards last year and for having the highest level of post-secondary education among its students.
In addition to the support of the State Charitable Campaign, Gwinnett Tech faculty, staff and students are actively involved raising funds and donating their time to a host of causes throughout the year - all contributing to the $100,000 total. Highlights include:
