Gwinnett Tech Now Offering Data Center Training Courses
New offerings support area's growing industry

Lawrenceville

Gwinnett Tech is expanding its education and training offerings to support workforce development for the area's growing number of data centers.

Gwinnett Tech now offers two courses through its Continuing Education Division to train employees for data center positions in the information technology field. Beginning this September, GTC will offer a college credit certificate in data center training through its Computer Sciences division.

Gwinnett Tech is the only college in the Southeast to focus on providing a skilled employee workforce for the data center industry. Attracting new data centers to the area is a priority for Gwinnett County economic development leaders, reflecting the area's growing reputation as a center for technology and life sciences.

The course offerings were developed with input from GTC's Computer Sciences Community Advisory Board, comprised of executives and business leaders in the field. The continuing education courses are co-hosted by Sago Networks.

The pilot course for Data Center I was just completed and will be offered again this fall. The Data Center II program is a more in-depth offering, consisting of hands-on exercises and lab activities, which will be held at Sago Networks.

GTC is now accepting registrations for the Data Center II pilot course. The 10-week course will begin July 14, meeting in the evenings on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Prerequisites for the Data Center II class are A+ and Net + certification or class completion or Data Center I Pilot class completion. Course tuition is $500.

For more information and to register, contact Becky Burton, bburton@gwinnetttech.edu, 678-226-6697.

Classes are available in computers and software, language and bilingual skills, leadership and management, and in a host of industry-specific areas including construction, real estate, healthcare, food service, retailing and manufacturing.
