Gwinnett Tech Student Named One of Georgia's 2011 EAGLE Delegates
EAGLE Program Honors Students in Adult Education
Gwinnett Tech student Selvin Amin Morales Lopez has been named one of Georgia's 2011 EAGLE (Exceptional Adult Georgian in Literacy Education) delegates for his outstanding performance in adult education.
The EAGLE is a Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) Office of Adult Education program that annually honors an outstanding student from each of the state's 30 local adult education programs. This year's EAGLE delegates represent the more than 95,000 men and women who are enrolled in adult education classes throughout Georgia.
Instructor Jacqueline Simmons nominated Lopez, a Guatemalan native, to represent GTC as this year's EAGLE delegate. "I can honestly say Selvin has been one of the most rewarding students I have had the pleasure to teach. He's always been respectable to his peers and instructors. He has also been a good example with his determination and steady improvement."
Lopez's future plans include continuing to pursue his education and one day becoming a missionary. "The most important lesson I've learned from participating in the adult education program is that it is never too late for an education and if I want a better life or career, I don't give up."
Gwinnett Tech's Adult Education Division served more than 8,400 students in FY10 and has among the highest adult education enrollment in the state.
GTC offers more than 45 degree, diploma and certificate student options that you can finish in two years or less. For more information on all students, visit www.GwinnettTech.edu or call 770-962-7580.
