Gwinnett Technical College Announces Leadership Transition Melvin Everson Appointed as Vice President of Community and Government Affairs

Gwinnett Technical College is excited to announce the appointment of Melvin Everson as the new Vice President of Community and Government Affairs. Previously serving as Vice President of Economic Development, Everson will now bring his extensive expertise and leadership to this pivotal role. This strategic transition underscores our commitment to strengthening community relations and enhancing government partnerships.

In Everson’s new role as Vice President of Community and Government Affairs, he will be responsible for:

  • Community Engagement: Leading initiatives to foster strong relationships with local communities, including outreach programs, community development projects, and partnerships with local organizations.
  • Government Relations: Managing interactions with government officials and agencies to advocate for policies that support the College’s mission and objectives.
  • Public Affairs: Overseeing public affairs strategies to enhance the College’s reputation and influence within the community and government sectors.

Everson brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of success in economic development, making him uniquely qualified to lead our community and government affairs efforts. His leadership will be instrumental in advancing our goals and positively impacting the communities we serve.

Prior to joining the College, he served as the Executive Director of the Governor’s Office of Workforce Development and the Georgia Commission of Equal Opportunity. Everson also served as a Georgia State Representative for House District 106, on the Snellville City Council, and in the United States Army. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminology from Albany State University.

A nationwide search for the Vice President of economic development will be conducted to continue our economic development growth initiatives and support our community’s needs.
