GWINNETT—Gwinnett Technical College has recorded the highest enrollment numbers in its 40-year history. More than 11,000 students across the region are flocking to Gwinnett Tech’s dynamic educational programs and career opportunities.
The 2024 Fall semester saw a staggering 20% increase in enrollment compared to last year, and this does not include the upcoming fall mini-mester (term C) figures expected in November. This follows a similar 18% surge in the past spring semester.
Dr. D. Glen Cannon, President of Gwinnett Tech, credits this phenomenal growth to several key factors:
- A significant rise in transfers from traditional four-year colleges: Students increasingly seek hands-on skills and cost-effective education for a rewarding career, making Gwinnett Tech their top choice.
- Programs in high-demand careers with full tuition coverage by HOPE: Our students benefit from programs fully funded by HOPE, ensuring they can pursue their education without financial burden.
- New and renovated state-of-the-art facilities: Our campus boasts technologically advanced buildings and equipment, providing students with a cutting-edge learning environment.
- Affordability and quick entry into the job market: Gwinnett Tech offers an affordable education that allows students to start their careers quickly. Additionally, our growing internship and apprenticeship opportunities provide valuable real-world experience.
- Strong industry partnerships: Collaborations with local businesses and industries ensure our programs are aligned with current job market demands, enhancing employment prospects for our graduates.
Dr. Cannon proudly states, “While we are starting with over 11,000, we anticipate being around 11,500 after our mid-semester Term C enrollment is finished. Our community is increasingly drawn to the affordable, flexible, and experiential learning environment at Gwinnett Tech. We are dedicated to providing educational programs that meet the real-time needs of our community. Our faculty and staff are committed to delivering career-focused education for real-world jobs.”
Gwinnett Tech now offers over 140 associate degree, diploma, and certificate programs, continually expanding to meet evolving job market demands. Recently, the College introduced 20 new certificates in fields such as information technology, cosmetology/barbering, automotive technology, electrical vehicle technology, film, healthcare, and welding.
