GWINNETT — Logan Hawkins has been chosen to represent Gwinnett Technical College at the statewide EAGLE (Exceptional Adult Georgian in Literacy Education) Leadership Institute in March 2025. The Leadership Institute recognizes and honors students with superior achievement in adult education classes and programs.
Logan’s story exemplifies the essence of the EAGLE program. Logan, a resident of Sandy Springs, first came to Gwinnett Tech after a significant life event. He enrolled in Gwinnett Tech’s Take Ten+ program and earned his high school equivalency (HSE) and welding certification.
Logan chose Gwinnett Tech and the HSE program because of his passion for learning. “I am passionate about learning. I have earned a degree in welding and plan on continuing my education at Gwinnett Technical College. My dream of a better life led me to Gwinnett Technical College, and I found the Take Ten program at Gwinnett Tech,” said Logan.
“Being named the EAGLE winner for me means being an Adult Education ambassador and a representative for my school, Gwinnett Tech,” stated Logan.
Logan plans to continue his studies at Gwinnett Tech in the Welding program. “In the future, I see myself becoming a business owner, sharing my knowledge and work ethic, with the hope of helping others succeed. An established career will impact my life and future goals so that I will become more self-sufficient. Taking care of my family has always been my dream and will now become a reality.”
Logan aims to inspire others in their adult education journey by sharing his story of overcoming obstacles to obtain his HSE diploma. He hopes his testimony will reach those who feel hopeless due to their lack of education and experience, showing them the importance of perseverance and the pursuit of a better future.
The Technical College System of Georgia, through its Office of Adult Education, sponsors the annual Exceptional Adult Georgian in Literacy Education (EAGLE) Leadership Institute. EAGLE is the first statewide program in the nation to recognize and reward excellence among students enrolled in adult education programs. The student recognition program is designed to increase awareness of educational opportunities in local communities and foster greater involvement in lifelong learning pursuits.
