LAWRENCEVILLE, GA — Gwinnett Technical College continues to see strong enrollment growth, with 17,204 students enrolled for the 2026 academic year. This milestone marks the college’s 12th straight semester of enrollment increases. More than 13,000 students are enrolled this fall, a 3% increase from last year, and that number is expected to rise further when the October Term C mini-semester begins. This continued momentum follows a notable 9% enrollment increase in Spring 2026.
President Dr. Glen Cannon attributes this momentum to several strategic factors:
- Transfer students from four-year colleges seeking hands-on, career-ready skills and cost-effective education.
- High-demand programs are fully covered by HOPE, allowing students to pursue their goals without financial strain.
- Affordable tuition and fast-track career pathways, supported by growing internship and apprenticeship opportunities.
- Robust industry partnerships that align academic programs with real-world job market needs.
“We’re excited to begin the semester with enrollment exceeding 13,000 students, and we expect final numbers to remain strong once Term C enrollment is complete,” said Dr. Cannon. “More students are choosing Gwinnett Tech because they see the value of an affordable education that offers flexibility, hands-on learning, and a direct path to career opportunities. As workforce needs continue to change, we’re focused on providing programs that help students succeed while supporting the talent needs of our community.”
Gwinnett Technical College’s growth reflects its ongoing commitment to meeting students’ and employers’ needs through expanded academic offerings. With more than 160 associate degrees, diplomas, and certificate programs, the College continues to introduce new opportunities that prepare graduates for high-demand careers.
In Spring 2026, Gwinnett Tech launched a Practical Nursing program at its Lawrenceville campus, providing students with greater access to one of the region’s fastest-growing healthcare fields. The College also added new certificate programs in Veterinary Technology, Mechatronics, Electrical Systems Technology, Business Technology, Advanced Automotive Technology (including Hybrid/Electric Vehicle Service Technician), and Welding.
These new offerings build on more than 20 certificates added in recent years across areas such as information technology, cosmetology and barbering, automotive and electric vehicle technology, and healthcare. Together, they reflect Gwinnett Tech’s focus on creating pathways to careers that are in demand today and positioned for future growth.
