Gwinnett Technical College Celebrates the First High School Graduates from the Gwinnett Technical College Academy

Lawrenceville, GA – Gwinnett Technical College proudly announces the graduation of the Adult Education Class of 2026 and celebrates a historic milestone as the first group of students to graduate from the Gwinnett Technical College Academy. The graduation ceremony took place on Friday, June 5, 2026, at Gas South Theater.

A total of 142 students walked in this year’s Adult Education graduation ceremony, reflecting determination, perseverance, and a commitment to building brighter futures through education. Among these graduates are four students who completed the Career Plus High School program, demonstrating strong dedication to both academic achievement and career readiness.

This year’s ceremony is especially significant as it recognizes the inaugural graduating class of the Gwinnett Technical College Academy. The Academy is designed to provide students with a structured pathway to earn their high school credential while gaining exposure to college and career opportunities. Through personalized instruction, academic support, and workforce connections, the program creates new access points for students to succeed and transition into postsecondary education or employment. The first graduating class marks an important step forward in expanding educational opportunity within the community.

Between April 1, 2025, and April 30, 2026, 590 individuals successfully completed their High School Equivalency through Gwinnett Technical College. This total includes students who attended Adult Education classes as well as those who independently prepared and tested at the college’s testing center, highlighting the program’s flexibility and accessibility.

Stephanie Rooks served as the keynote speaker for the ceremony, sharing words of encouragement and inspiration as graduates celebrated this important milestone.

Dr. Glen Cannon, president of Gwinnett Technical College, praised the graduates and the impact of innovative programs like the Gwinnett Technical College Academy.
