Lawrenceville, GA – Gwinnett Technical College’s Respiratory Care Program has earned the President’s Award for Excellence from the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC), becoming the only technical college in Georgia and one of just two colleges statewide to receive this prestigious national recognition.

The President’s Award for Excellence recognizes accredited respiratory care programs that achieve exceptional outcomes and maintain the highest standards in respiratory care education. To qualify for the award, a program must achieve a 100 percent Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credentialing success rate for three consecutive years, maintain three or more years of outcomes data, hold full accreditation without a progress report, and meet or exceed CoARC’s established thresholds for both the Therapist Multiple-Choice (TMC) high cut score and student retention.

“This award reflects the dedication of our Respiratory Care faculty, students, graduates, and clinical partners who work every day to uphold the highest standards of excellence,” said Dr. Glen Cannon, president of Gwinnett Technical College. “Receiving this recognition demonstrates our commitment to preparing highly skilled respiratory therapists who make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients throughout our communities.”

The Respiratory Care Program prepares students to assess, treat, and care for patients with breathing and cardiopulmonary disorders in a variety of healthcare settings. Through classroom instruction, laboratory experience, and hands-on clinical training, graduates develop the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in an increasingly vital healthcare profession.
