Ready to graduate? Congratulations!
Graduation is the academic process of awarding your degree, diploma, or certificate. Completion of coursework alone does not constitute graduation.
What Does Applying for Graduation Mean?
Applying for graduation means you are requesting an official audit of your academic record to confirm completion of your degree, diploma, or certificate requirements.
It is not the same as applying to transfer to another institution, and does not automatically register you for the Graduation Ceremony.
Graduation Requirements
To be approved for graduation, students must:
- Complete all required program coursework
- Complete all required learning support coursework
- Earn a minimum 2.0 program GPA
- Earn at least 25% of required program credits at Gwinnett Tech
- Fulfill program curriculum requirements as published in the applicable Course Catalog and Student Handbook
Students with continuous enrollment may graduate under the catalog in effect at:
- Their most recent acceptance to the program of study, or
- The Course Catalog in effect at the time the Graduation Application is submitted
Students are encouraged to review DegreeWorks and consult their Program Advisor or Enrollment Team prior to registering for their final required course(s).
Graduation Application
Students should submit a Graduation Application after registering for their final required course(s).
Graduation Applications must be submitted within five (5) years of program completion.

A $40 non-refundable processing fee is assessed when a student submits a Graduation Application for their primary program of study.
This fee supports the review, audit, and verification of a student’s individual academic program and is not a Graduation Ceremony fee.
- Posted to the student account when processed
- One-time fee per academic year
- Assessed for primary programs of study
- Embedded certificates are not assessed this fee
Credential Issuance Timeline

Credentials are issued only after final grades post and program completion is verified.
Within six (6) business weeks after grades post, eligible students will receive:
- A digital e-credential from Congratulations@Parchment.com
- Degrees, diplomas, and stand-alone certificates will also receive a printed credential by mail
- Embedded certificates are issued in digital format only
Once notified by Parchment, via text message and student e-mail; students have 72 hours to verify their mailing address.
Replacement diplomas may be ordered through Parchment for a $25 fee.
Transcript Posting
After the graduation audit is completed and the award is conferred, the credential will be reflected on your official Gwinnett Technical College transcript.
Graduation Ceremony
Gwinnett Tech’s formal graduation ceremony is held once annually at the end of spring semester.
Students completing graduation requirements during the current academic year (fall, spring, and summer) may be eligible to participate in the Graduation Ceremony.
Participation in the Graduation Ceremony is optional and requires a separate RSVP process.
Physical credentials are not distributed at the ceremony. Graduates participating will receive a diploma cover during the ceremony.
Visit the Graduation Ceremony page for dates, RSVP deadlines, and event details.
Continuing Your Studies?
Students planning to continue coursework in a new program must complete a Returning/Readmit admissions application to avoid financial aid or registration issues.
