CIS Mentoring Program
“Empower Tech, Get Plugged-In, Ignite Your Future”
Welcome to the CIS Mentoring Program! Our vibrant community of students, professors, and industry leaders are excited to embark on a journey of professional development and personal growth.

Alberta Alleyne, founded the CIS Mentoring program in Spring 2019 and continues to serve as its Chairperson, driven by a passion for helping others and seeing students thrive.
From the beginning, her vision was to create a supportive community that builds student confidence, fosters leadership, and provides meaningful opportunities to connect with IT industry leaders. The program was designed to help students become more competitive in their academic programs, while increasing their chances to secure internships and employment in the field.
Since its founding, the program has grown into a collaborative network that brings together IT professionals, community leaders, professors, staff, and CIS students. Together, we work to cultivate pathways for mentorship, professional growth, and career readiness. At its core, the program is about empowerment-helping the next generation of technology professionals achieve their goals and make impactful contributions to the IT industry and their communities.
Alberta will be forever grateful to Dean Garfield Anderson (Retired) for entrusting her with the opportunity to lead such a meaningful initiative that continues to make a lasting impact on students.
The Program Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting the mission and growth of the mentoring program. Annette Flynn’s journey with the program began in Fall 2023, as part of the winning team in a competition that was launched as an initiative of the CIS Mentoring Program to help develop Computer Programming and Web Development students.
Through that experience, Ms. Flynn leadership potential and collaborative spirit stood out, making her a natural fit to help advance the program’s goals.
Adding to her previous degrees, attaining additional Associate degrees in Web Development and Programming, she brings both technical knowledge and organizational skills to the role. Her passion for project management and mentoring others allows her to effectively coordinate program activities, foster connections between students and industry leaders, and create opportunities for professional growth. As Program Coordinator, she is committed to empowering students to reach their full potential and ensuring the program continues to thrive.
