Endoscope Processing Technician
The Gwinnett Tech Endoscope Reprocessing Program provides an opportunity for Certified Central Processing Technicians to expand and grow in the highly skilled flexible endoscope reprocessing field. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) predicts a 9% job growth rate for Flexible Endoscope Reprocessing Technicians from 2020 – 2028.
What can I expect from this program?
Our Endoscope Reprocessing Program provides preparation for a career in this field with well-rounded core and technical courses. In this program, you will study techniques, rules and regulations involved in keeping the endoscopic patient safe and prevent procedural infections and other complications. Coursework includes classroom instruction, hands-on guidance in technologically advanced labs, and clinical rotations in area hospitals. You will learn techniques to disassemble, decontaminate, disinfect/sterilize, check for proper function, and assemble & adjust endoscope instruments/equipment, ensuring they are functioning correctly and have been processed to be used effectively on patients.

The Gwinnett Tech Endoscope Reprocessing Program prepares you for the certification exam. Passing the certification exam earns you either the title of Certified Flexible Endoscope Reprocessor (CFER) or Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER).
Gwinnett Tech’s Endoscope Reprocessing Program currently offers one Hope Career Grant. HOPE Career Grants provide free tuition assistance toward educational costs for eligible students enrolled in an approved designated program of study. Students must be eligible for and receiving, the HOPE Grant or Zell Miller Grant to be awarded the HOPE Career Grant. It provides assistance with educational costs that are not covered by the HOPE or Zell Miller Grants.
